Now based in Arizona, German electronic producer Wolfgang Korn invites the listener on an “inner emigration” on his recent single “Indigo Well”. With an arsenal of electronic sounds, including those from Korn’s own hardware synths, the producer practises deep worldbuilding on this four-minute-plus track, where twinkling piano keys, angelic vocalises, dirty synth leads, and steady percussion merge in dynamic fashion.
The twists and turns of the instrumentation, ribboned with melodic flourishes, never lead you astray, but rather direct you to a netherworld cast in all shades of brightness and darkness. The result is an immersive, dreamlike soundscape that produces a sedative feeling while offering a wealth of sonic discovery.
